Garmin has released the Edge 500 cycling GPS device that comes in blue and white accents, where it is able to offer actual positional and speed data alongside the number of calories you have burned during your vigorous hill climb or relaxing descent. In addition, the Edge 500 can be paired with wireless sensors that are specific to Garmin or can support the ANT+ format. The Edge 500 features around 18 hours' worth of battery life, and can be recharged via USB. Through the same USB port, you can also send relevant data to a Mac or Windows-powered machine for further processing. The Garmin Edge 500 will be out sometime this fall, retailing for $250 a pop. Those who settle for a bundle that includes a cadence/speed sensor and a heart rate monitor will have to fork out another Benjamin.
