Magellan has just rolled out its RoadMate 1700 GPS mapping device which comes with a behemoth 7" display at 800 x 480 resolution, making it a snap to read from a distance. You can also feed video into it from a portable media player with a smaller screen via the video input jack, and the RoadMate 1700 will support Magellan's own software features including multi-route calculation, text-to-speech and AAA tour guides. A microSDHC memory card is used to store maps, where it will come preloaded with North American maps. Expect the Magellan RoadMate 700 to go for $300 as shipping commences today.
