Seagate DockStar offers new options

Want to turn any standard USB hard drive into a network attached storage device? The Seagate DockStar is one way of doing so in the same vein as its Dock+ predecessor. Capable of housing a FreeAgent Go hard drive within, you can also connect up to another three USB drives as well. It will connect to your home network through its Ethernet port. As for network access, that is enabled through technology purchased from Pogoplug, making it software with Seagate's skin on top of the Pogoplug interface. Seagate aims to make money off you by charging $30 annually to access the drive from outside your home network once the initial first year free access timeframe is over.
