Taizo robot to lead in physical exercise

Advancements in the world of robotics have yielded some very interesting additions, where among these include the Taizo – courtesy of researchers from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). This robot was specially created to lead the elderly in physical exercises, which might possibly translate to bad news for physical education coaches down the road in the future. Dressed up in the most unconventional exercise wear (can you imagine a space suit?), the 70cm tall Taizo has a perpetually goofy grin to motivate the elderly in engaging a higher level of exercise. Here we are thinking that the Nintendo Wii with its slew of Wii Sports and Wii Fit games ought to do the trick. Bringing Taizo home won’t be easy on your pockets though as he will cost you around $8,000 a pop.
