Windows Marketplace ready for launch
Posted on Oct 4, 09 07:46 PM PDT

Microsoft's App Store equivalent for their Windows-powered smartphones, known as Windows Marketplace for Mobile, is ready to roll out alongside the new 6.5 OS come this October 6th. This is good news for new owners of Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets, but for those who are running on older Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 versions, they won't have a chance at purchasing or downloading these third party applications. Windows Marketplace will be released in a couple of phases, with the first phase beginning this Tuesday, while the second phase will see an App Store release for Windows 6.0 and 6.1 owners that will happen sometime before 2009 is over.
