Google Countersues In Android Battle
Posted on Nov 5, 09 10:50 PM PDT

Despite the Motorola Droid getting favorable reviews, there are other battles for Google’s Android to fight, as is the case with the Android trademark issue. Google has filed a countersuit against Illinois entrepreneur Erich Specht over the Android trademark. Specht launched the company, Android Data Corporation, back in 1999, which sold software titles using the Android now, and was granted the registration for trademark protection over the name “Android Data”. So you can see where all this is heading to, right? Anyways, after being named as a defendant in the initial lawsuit, Google has bit back with the countersuit, claiming that Specht’s registration lacked proper renewal, and the software company has abandoned the name from being used with its products. What will be the final outcome? Stay tuned and find out!
