Google To Improve The Net (Again) With SPDY
Posted on Nov 14, 09 09:07 AM PDT

Google is certainly busy trying to improve the Internet, and next on its agenda seems to be SPDY, what looks like Google’s idea of a replacement for HTTP. SPDY is able to handle multiple streams of data at once and prioritize them on the fly, meaning that if the background image of a site is taking too long to load, it won’t hold back the rest of the site from being loaded. From the lab tests, it seems that Google found SPDY to improve load times 55% over HTTP, which is certainly intriguing. Of course, browsers will have to support it first, not to mention the websites themselves. Regardless of the challenges, it’s still good to see Google moving forward.
