Quake III HD video playback on netbook
Posted on Nov 1, 09 06:36 PM PDT

Netbooks are good enough for casual computing usage, but they're far from being decent gaming machines. Things might change for the better in the future though with efforts from the Linux Foundation showing off an MSI Wind U115 powered by an Intel Atom Z530 processor and GMA 500 graphics chipset running Quake III in HD resolutions at approximately 35 fps. This is made possible only on Moblin Linux since Windows drivers for the same chipset are just unable to eke out such a performance.
