Samsung NAND flash memory is super thin
Posted on Nov 4, 09 12:59 PM PDT

Samsung broke new ground with a new NAND flash memory that manages to cram 32GB of storage space onto a single chip which is no more than 0.6mm thin, thanks to the use of extra-thin, "bare" packages which are as sturdy as its predecessors despite being half as thick. This is also made possible thanks to a 30 nanometer assembly process, which we should see incorporated into devices in the near future, leading to even thinner handsets and portable media players. No idea on when these will be released, but it would be interesting to see what Apple can make of it.
