T-Mobile ships Jet modem and T-Mobile Tap
Posted on Nov 11, 09 12:02 PM PDT

T-Mobile has started to ship its webConnect Jet modem and T-Mobile Tap handset, where the former will hook up to T-Mobile's 3G network while offering access to T-Mobile's Wi-Fi hotspots when the situation calls for it. Apart from that, it can be used as a flash drive thanks to the inclusion of a microSD memory card slot. The Jet USB modem will come with a $30 monthly plan that maxes out at 200MB data, while a $50 monthly plan is much more reasonable with 5GB worth of data allowed. It can even roam globally on quad-band GSM/EDGE, while handling dual-band UMTS/HSDPA access with aplomb. As for the Tap, this 3G touchscreen handset will hook up to T-Mobile's web2go service, coming with a 2-megapixel camera, an integrated music player, assisted GPS functionality and stereo Bluetooth audio. Expect the Tap to retail for $80 after a new 2-year plan and a mail-in rebate.
