Light-Sensitive Contact Lenses On Their Way

Many folks out there have tried (and are fond of) light-adaptive lenses in their spectacles, which is the technology that darkens your lenses automatically in response to bright sunlight. This 40-year old technology is more than a little useful, but it has been a tough road to get it integrated into contact lenses. Now it seems that researchers over in Singapore have come up with a breakthrough, and developed a UV-responsive (or photochromic) lenses that darken when exposed to ultraviolet light, just like how your standard transitional lenses work. Now we just have to wait for this technology to become mainstream.
