uTorrent To Self-throttle?
Posted on Nov 2, 09 12:05 AM PDT

Bittorrent is probably the thing that ISPs hate most, and while we probably don’t agree with them, we can understand their aversion towards the protocol. So what does the future hold for Bittorrent? Well, it seems that a new feature of uTorrent 2.0 (a Bittorrent client) is that it can self-limit the bandwidth if it detects congestion, thanks to the uTP protocol (which is an extension of the existing Bittorrent protocol). We’ll have to wait and see whether this becomes a police tool for ISPs, or something that will benefit both parties.
