Microsoft To Patent User-generated Avatars

A patent application filed by Microsoft has surfaced, detailing an automatic generation of an avatar, based on a user’s physical health. The Avatar Generator would come up with an avatar which reflects the physical characteristic of the user, and the data could be used to reflect a degree of health of the real person. This means that folks could generate an avatar that is quite close to them, and it would certainly be possible that users would need to keep themselves fit in order for it to reflect on their online avatar, which would inject a whole deal of realism into the game/scene. Information provided by the end user could also be used to find other link-minded individuals, though you probably could do that right now without a special avatar. While the patent was filed some time ago, it does make you wonder if the folks over at Microsoft have watched the recent hit movie, Avatar.
