Apple Files Motion Sensing Bluetooth Headset Patent
Posted on Jan 29, 10 09:16 AM PDT

Here’s a patent application, filed by Apple, that seems so simple that when you read it you’ll probably have one of those “why didn’t I think about that” moments. The patent involves using an accelerometer to determine the functionality of the headset. With the accelerometer, the headset will be able to determine which side of the headset is facing upwards, and as a result, assign the upwards-facing button to perform the “increase volume” function, while the bottom facing one will obviously be to lower the volume. The question remains: How well do you know your current handsfree kit? It would be quite hilarous if you purchased this device and not know how to use it.
