LG Favoring Android Over Windows Mobile?

LG has detailed its strategy, expecting to ship about 20 different smartphones in 2010, but has confirmed that more than half of those phones will ship with Google’s Android, similar to the GT540 that was showcased at CES. With Android taking up the bulk of the phones, Windows Mobile and Linux have been related to the minority. This is certainly bad news for Microsoft, especially when you look back and see that it had a deal with LG, resulting in most of LG’s smartphones in 2009 powered by Windows Mobile. LG didn’t specifically mention why it’s going down the Android path, but we figure that the cheap (or even free) licensing of the OS, finger-ready interface, capacitive touch screen support all give it an edge over Windows Mobile, making it more desirable. At this day and time, would you rather have a Windows Mobile phone, or a Google Android-powered phone?
