Rockchip RK2808-powered phone spotted

What you see here is a prototype handset which runs on a version of the Android OS, where it will also sport the Rockchip RK2808 chipset inside. Dubbed the Smart Phone (how original!), this prototype is still awaiting a manufacturer before it can be mass produced to be sold to the crowd. Obviously, there is no word on pricing and availability as at press time, but we do know that it ought to be a decent video playback device simply because of Rockchip’s expertise in this department, with many portable media players sporting their chipset which is more than able to handle a wide range of codecs such as H.264, RMVB, MPEG-4, AVS and WMV9, alongside support for 720p videos.
