European HTC Hero To Be Updated To Android 2.1 By The End Of April

It was previously mentioned that the HTC Hero would be getting an Android 2.1 update come April 16th, but it seems that the date might be pushed by back slightly. It seems that some folks have buzzed HTC about the upcoming update, and the Taiwanese company has replied, indicating that the anticipated update would be released at the end of April. The update will be pushed out over-the-air (OTA) so you won’t have to worry too much about it. Apparently this might apply to European HTC Hero devices only, but considering that the hardware isn’t too different, hopefully the global update won’t be too far off. According to HTC:

“Some of the phones in our Android line up including your Hero are due to receive an upgrade, and it is scheduled to be released starting at the end of April. Your phone should be upgraded Over-The-Air. You can expect a pop-up message on your phone when connected to the internet once it is ready. When the upgrade is ready, we will notify you via our website and on various social media networks including Twitter and Face book”
