The procedure was done using the Remote Catheter Manipulation System built by New Jersey’s Catheter Robotics. One of the challenges faced by surgeons with these tricky procedures is the prolonged exposure to the X-Rays used to monitor the patient, but with this method, the operation can be performed over the Internet from anywhere in the world. Regardless of how high-tech things become, you’d probably still feel more comfortable if your surgeon was at least in the same building, right?
