After speculation that Motorola may be entering the tablet space and confirmation from CEO Sanjay Jha, we now have a seemingly firmer date on when that may be. Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar told The Street that Motorola’s tablet will come in November, listing a 10-inch screen and Android 3.0 Gingberbread build as preliminary specs. An Android tablet from Motorola would beat out its Apple iPad competitor in that Google’s OS–starting with Android 2.2 and later–will come pre-bundled with support for Adobe Flash 10.1 browser plug-in, allowing for a desktop experience with interactive content built around that framework.
Though the timing is speculative, a Motorola Android tablet could fit in well with Verizon Wireless, which has confirmed in the past it is working with Google and OEMs to deliver an iPad competitor. Motorola and Verizon Wireless has had some recent successful smartphone launches, including the original Motorola Droid and the recently released Droid X. Additionally, it is speculated that Motorola will be launching a revised version of the Droid 1 with sliding keyboard–called the Droid 2–for a launch in the near future on Verizon’s CDMA network.
