Apple Reminds Users That Jailbreaking Might Still Void Your Warranty

With the Library of Congress’ recent decision to legally sanction jailbreaking under the DMCA, folks who love to jailbreak their iPhones out there must be rejoicing. That being said, while it seems that Apple will not contest the legality itself, the fruity company has stated that such a move could hurt the experience by taking away some speed and reliability that users might have originally expected from the device, and mightnegatively affect the device beyondwhat Apple can support. Considering that all sorts of things might possibly go wrong if you don’t jailbreak your iPhone properly, it’s understandable that Apple will want to prevent having to deal with any funny issues, so it’ll serve as a reminder to many folks that while the action itself may be legal, if you botch your iPhone, Apple may not be obliged to fix it. That being said, we’re fairly sure that many folks out there will continue to happily jailbreak their iPhones. The statement reads:

“Apple’s goal has always been to insure that our customers have a great experience with their iPhone and we know that jailbreaking can severely degrade the experience. As we’ve said before, the vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones as this can violate the warranty and can cause the iPhone to become unstable and not work reliably.”
