Upcoming iMac And Mac Pro To Offer USB 3.0 And Faster FireWire?

Whispers are going around that Apple’s next desktop upgrade will see the iMac and Mac Pro get USB 3.0 ports, which will enable much faster data transfer speeds, and would be quite useful when syncing large amounts of data to your iPad or other media devices, assuming that they eventually get bumped to sport USB 3.0 connections too. Aside from that, the Mac Pro will apparently get FireWire 1600 and 3200 connections, which will offer transfer rates up to 3.2Gbps. Last but not least, Apple is said to be interested in Intel’s Light Peak technology which permits data transfer speeds up to 3.2Gbps, but it doesn’t look like Light Peak will be making it to Apple’s devices anytime soon. According to the rumor the new Mac Pros should be out by the end of the summer, with the new iMacs to follow suit several weeks later.
