Yamaha Unveils Its EC-03 Electric Scooter

Yamaha has just introduced its latest Zero-Emission Electric Scooter, the EC-03. It’s expected to set you back about $2,800 and is apparently cheaper than its competitors, not to mention that it’s capable of traveling for 26.6 miles on a single six-hour charge. Of course, being an electric vehicle (EV), it’ll do a lot less damage to the environment. The EC-03 actually marks the return of Yamaha to the EV market, as the company was the first to mass produce an electric motorcycle back in 2002, but it was stopped in 2007 due to battery problems. The problem should have been solved by now as the EC-03 sports a 50V lithium-ion battery sourced from Sanyo. The EC-03 is slated to be launched in Japan this September.
