I-O Data rolls out HDPN-U500/V external hard drive for memory hungry users

I-O Data is a name that most people know when it comes to external storage devices, and among their more recent releases would be the HDPN-U500/V external hard drive. The designers decided to toy with the idea of making it resemble a Windows file folder icon thanks to the bulge on one side, although we thought it would have been a whole lot more realistic if it came with a similar color shade as with the typical Windows icon. At least it does what it looks like, which is stashing files away safe and sound until required at a later time. While you can use it as a standard external hard drive, it can also double up as a backup device for video files from a range of camcorders. You can also view the videos off the drive onto a TV directly, with the camcorder functioning as the AV interface. We might not be able to see the I-O Data HDPN-U500/V arrive Stateside, but it will hit Japan by the end of next month for approximately two Benjamins.
