SkinnyBytes delivers Power Over Ethernet computers

Take a look at your computer or notebook – how is it powered? Chances are it will be hooked up to the nearest AC power outlet. SkinnyBytes intends to change this, offering a new range of PoE (Power over Ethernet) computers that are also AIO (All-In-One) models, making sure you can get up and running right out of the box. Depending on your needs and budget, you can choose from sizes ranging from 8.9” to 18.5”. Strangely enough, there is no 8.9” model on the website as per the press release, but there is an $899 15.6” model featured. As mentioned, since these are PoE machines, making them appealing to business startups as well as organizations who want to purchase plenty of machines on a large scale since there is no need to install new AC power outlets, not to mention the fact that PoE machines require much less juice to run, helping you reduce your energy bill at the end of the month.

A touchscreen display interface is also included on the Windows 7-powered machines to make them keep up with the times, making them ideal for business and schools. Since these PoE computers are compatible with IEEE standard 802.3at for Power-over-Ethernet, you will be able to enjoy a reduction in power requirements of up to 90% when compared to other traditional computing systems – bear in mind that this figure was reached by SkinnyBytes themselves using an in-house benchmark, so do take that figure with a pinch of salt. It does help that each PoE machine will be aided by power saving technologies such as the use of solid state drives, a low-power Intel Atom processor, LED backlighting, and passive cooling technologies.
