Viliv S5 Tablet Hacked To Run Android 2.2 FroYo

You may not see Google’s Android OS running on x86 devices every day, but some smart folks out there have managed to get Android 2.2 FroYo running on the Viliv S5 tablet, which is normally powered by Windows XP. From the video (after the jump), Android seems to be running quite well on the device, which is great news for folks who might want to attempt a similar hack. Apparently the biggest hurdle in getting this to work was getting the drivers for the proprietary Intel drivers for the chipset inside the unit, though it seems everything worked out in the end. Specifications of the Viliv S5 include:

  • 1.3GHz Intel Atom processor
  • Intel GMA 500 graphics
  • 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display
  • 32GB SSD
  • GPs
  • Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
