DisplayLink chip platforms deliver USB 3.0 and Ethernet connectivity

DisplayLink showed off their DL-3000 and DL-1000 series chips that will feature built-in display and networking connections, not to mention high performance audio and HD video support. What does this mean for the end user ultimately? Well, you will be able to process multiple 1080p HD videos, high resolution graphics and networking data simultaneously without causing too much of a load on the computer itself (within reasonable limits, of course, we’re not talking about rendering a whole 3D movie in your living room) which will definitely bode well for multitaskers. The inclusion of third-generation DisplayLink adaptive real-time compression technology will also help boost the potential speed. Expect new products that ship with these new chips to support a couple of HD displays, are HDCP 2.0-protected content compatible, with DisplayPort, VGA DAC, DVI and HDMI ports as part of its connectivity options. Pricing remains unknown, but expect them to hit the market sometime in the first half of 2011.
