Rumor: Nokia To Evaluate The Possibility Of Using Windows Phone 7?

This is very much a rumor at the moment, and considering what it claims, we believe that it will stay a rumor for a very long time. According to the rumor, Nokia’s new CEO, Stephen Elop, has given the go-ahead for his team to explore the possibility of Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 (WP7) as a possible platform alternative for their handsets. Considering Nokia’s recent negative stance on Google’s Android platform, it’s hard to imagine a WP7-powered Nokia device appearing anytime soon, but then again, anything can happen in the future.

Update: Nokia’s has confirmed to us that it has no plans for a Windows Phone 7 handset. In their own words: “Our platforms are Series 40, Symbian and MeeGo. That stance was reinforced strongly by our management during Nokia World, and we currently have no plans to use other operating systems” (a Nokia Spokesperson)
