MindScape expands Nabaztag family with Karotz

Remember Nabaztag the talking rabbit? Well, that interactive toy has just gotten another family member to join in, known as the Karotz. Since the Nabaztag’s release, the parent company Violet has been purchased by MindScape, and we are proud to announce that the new Karotz is Wi-Fi enabled and will be powered by Linux, running on a 400MHz ARM processor, 64MB RAM and 256MB of internal storage. It will feed off batteries or can be plugged in via USB, while carrying a similar RFID reader functionality of the Nabaztag/tag. What is new would probably be a webcam built-in that supposedly offers face recognition that will work in tandem with the Nabaztag’s existing voice recognition. Expect Karotz to start hopping around in France from November onwards for €150, with a UK release to follow in time for Christmas while those of us staying Stateside will have to wait until February next year.
