Those who own Android 2.2-powered smartphones, here’s news for you – Google has just made available their Google Instant software which offers query-while-you-type search technology. Basically, all you need to do is head on over to Google in your favorite mobile browser, press the “Turn on” link and you’re good to go, saving a few clicks, nay, touches on the display in the process. Doesn’t sound as though smartphone users will make good use of this since most standard-size mobile displays are far too small that scrolling is required, although tablet owners might probably fare a whole lot better. A new AJAX and HTML5 implementation for mobile will speed things up by a bit, where it will dynamically update the page with new results, while doing away with the need to load a new page for each query. Of course, the fact that this is free doesn’t hurt Google Instant’s availability either, so check out a video of it in action above.
