EMI and Apple might be on to something really huge – as both of them have just announced the availability of the most influential and beloved rock band in music history on the iTunes Store for the first time ever. From today onwards, the group’s (who hails from Liverpool, UK) 13 legendary remastered studio albums alongside iTunes LPs, the two-volume “Past Masters” compilation and the classic “Red” and “Blue” collections can all be purchased and downloaded in the form of an album or individual songs, depending on your preference (and budget). One must be tickled pink to hear this news as Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, did mention in the past that this day would never come. For folks who were waiting for an iTunes with wireless sync (and other highly sought-after features), you will just have to wait. You can download single albums for $12.99 a pop, while double albums will cost you $19.99 with individual songs retailing for $1.29. Not much of an iTunes “revolution” after all: those still waiting for Wireless Sync, Streaming Music or Cloud Storage will have to wait.
