AMD Radeon HD 6950 And 6970 Go Official

AMD has introduced the first high end Radeon HD 6000 chipsets in the form of the 6950 and the 6970. These two are the first to use the Cayman architecture that promises greater parallel processing with more instruction units and two full graphics engines working at the same time. Other technical bits of information include the use of 2GB RAM at least, removing the frame buffer as a ceiling to performance at very high resolutions. Boards are already shipping from third parties such as MSI and PowerColor, starting at $299 for the 6950 series and around $369 for the 6970, giving it a slight price advantage over the GeForce equivalents.
