Inventec to roll out 60,000 Chrome OS notebooks

Inventec has been tasked to manufacture around 60,000 Chrome OS notebooks, where all of those will not make it to retail stores worldwide, but instead will be released to testers – yup, that’s how many testers Google will be “engaging” to make sure the Chrome OS notebook will not be gimped in any way possible when released next year. Also known as the Cr-48, Inventec has already shipped the laptops to Google, so it shouldn’t be too long before test units are shipped to folks who have signed up for the beta. Do you think that the Chrome OS notebook will take the world by storm? We’re quite sure it will be more desirable in the future once all the kinks have been ironed out, but hopefully it begins with a bang.
