TDK is back in the audio hardware business with the Life On Record line of products. The whole family shares common traits that include a great build quality and industrial design elements like aluminum, a classy retro look and a graphic equalizer. The Boomboxes can be connected to music players (including, but not limited to iPods) and USB drives. We’ve seen the three-speakers Boombox up-close and the build quality was indeed very high – and nice to the touch. The audio demo was powerful, even though it was only playing at 60% of volume — you won’t have to call 911 to get police officers at your door after 10pm…
The cherry on the cake is the pricing: at $499, the three speaker Boombox is very competitive against big-name speaker docks for iPod, except that it is more open than “iPod-only “docks, and seems to pack a lot more punch.
