News: Voice Over IP (VOIP) going into your next router

I have not received my Lingo box yet, it should arrive on wednesday. Lingo is a VOIP service that lets you use a regular phone to call another regular phone, using your broadband connection. It works by plugging your phone to a box that is going to convert the analog phone conversation to TCP/IP packets that will transit on the internet.

Apparently, major manufacturers are putting this conversion capability directly in their upcoming routers. It will be one less box on your desk ;) Price: $100-$200 Release Date: Dec 2004
