Toshiba Unveils New Flat-Panel "SED" TV

SED, Surface Electron-emitter Display is using old-style Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) technology, but in a Flat Panel display form.

SED Panels are also better at power-consumption, using only 30% of the energy used by a Plasma TV and 66% of the electricity used by a LCD TV. It is planed to be in retail in Q1 2005.
