SnapStream has updated its PVR (Personal Video Recorder) software to support the Dual TV Tuner functionality. That’s also a key feature of Windows Media Center 2005.

While Windows Media Center should be sold only installed in a brand new PC, SnapStream’s Beyond TV 3.5 can be used to upgrade an existing PC to become a PVR device. It does more or less what Windows Media Center can do, for $69.99. A 21-days trial is available for download.

Back in the days, I tried to install Beyond TV 3.0 without any luck. I’ll blame my TV Tuner… Keep in mind that the installation might require a live internet connection. I think that SnapStream’s User Interface is not as sleek as Window Media Center, but it lets you use an existing PC (you’ll probably have to buy the TV Tuner + Beyond TV), which is much less expensive than buying a Media Center PC.
