Nokia is helping the consumer to recognize original Nokia batteries by adding a hologram and identification code users can send (by sms or online) to verify if their battery is a counterfeit.
Recently we heard about several cases of cellphone batteries exploding in the hands or in the pockets of users, causing severe burns. Cheap counterfeit batteries were often the cause as they don’t carry the same safety features as regular batteries (to save a few bucks).
