Sony DVD Camcorder model DCR-DVD7E

I think that Sony was the first (and the only?) company to offer digital cameras that were recording directly on CDs.

The Sony DCR-DVD7E DVD Camcorder looks like a mini UFO. It will record movies on DVD-R/-RW/+RW discs (I assume in MPEG-2 format).

There is a 10X optical zoom and a 2.5″ LCD screen. Although quite bulky, it weighs about 360g. No mentions on “when” or “if” the device will be launched in the U.S. It comes out in Europe in May.
