According to the latest Japanese weekly sales charts, the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is beginning to outsell the Nintendo DS. The latest sales figures, for the week starting 16 January, show about 64,600 PSPs were shipped to retailers in Japan, over 10,000 more than the 53,500 Nintendo DS consoles shipped in the same period. Sony Computer Entertainment chief Ken Kutaragi recently announced that Sony had shipped 800,000 PSPs since the handheld console’s 12 December 2004 debut (Japan).
