Yahoo launches Desktop SearchAs expected, Yahoo is launching its desktop search software, following the move from Google.

The desktop search software scans your files and builds an index that will subsequently be used during the search. Yahoo and Google are using their search technology as if your computer was a “mini-web”.

Searches should be fast, but I’m sure that people will be concerned about security. Corporations for example don’t like to know that critical information could be found in the cache (special storage files) used by the search utility.
