Samsung´s 40" OLED display @ IMID

Samsung unveiled its 40” OLED display at this year’s IMID (International Meeting on Information Display), drawing oohs and ahhs from the crowd. It is the world’s first and largest 40” Active Matrix OLED to be developed as a single-sheet glass plate capable of WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels) HD-class resolution by virtue of an amorphous silicon  backplane. Expect the AV industry to evolve even further with its ultra-slim design that allows for TV sets that are only 3cm thick. The technology contained within has a maximum brightness of 600 nits and a shade ratio of at least 5,000–to–1 and a minimum color saturation of 80%. Translated for the layman, that’s one of the best you can get on the market right now, provided you have (very) deep pockets. Head on to Samsung’s press release.
