Los Angeles is testing a new smart parking meter system with ATM-style meters, accepting cash, debit cards, as well as credit cards. That’s not all! You can also have it to send you a SMS message when the meter is about to expire. To purchase extra parking time, simply reply to the message and you will be charged. This is indeed a better smart parking meter system comparing with those in New York City now: at least you don’t have to buy a special debit card just for the parking.
