Siemens unveiled its new WLAN phone last week in Berlin. The new Gigaset SL75 WLAN cordless phone allows broadband users with a WLAN router to make VoIP calls from any WLAN gateway with open access. This handset provides the flexiblity to switch between WLAN networks by allowing the users to store several WLAN access point profiles for their home, workplace, friend’s houses or anywhere with public WLAN access point.

Unlike Siemens’ previous WLAN phones which only notify the users of incomimg emails, the Gigaset SL75 WLAN features complete email functionality, allowing users to send and receive emails, even with photos as attachements.
These are the main features of the Gigaset SL75 WLAN handset:
- Storage for several WLAN access point profiles for quick convenient switching
- Complete email functinality
- Instant Messanging (IM) service functions
- Phone book storage for up to 200 entries
- Import contact data and ring tones directly from PC via WLAN
- Polyphonic sound for ring tones
- Caller recognition by assigning unique colored graphic display or ring tone
The Gigaset SL75 WLAN will be available from November 2005 in night grey for approximately EUR 299.
