Sony’s XDCAM HD camcorder will support direct recording of high-definition footage onto a Blu-ray disc when released next March. Recording will be done at 1080i in 3 different bit-rates :- 25Mbps, 35Mbps, and 18Mbps. The XDCAM captures footage and stores in on the rewritable disc in MPEG-2 format. You can skip to a clip shot in the middle of a take – something conventional tape users cannot do.
