Sony announces a new video conference system in Japan. It is based on a 17-inch LCD display with an integrated webcam. Apparently a whole computer is embedded (probably a minimalist system) and can be controlled with a mouse. The video uses H.264 (also known as MPEG4) which should have a good quality/size ratio.
The downside is the price: $2675. I would recommend buying a very nice laptop, a very nice mouse and one hell of a webcam instead.
