Creative is going to launch its anti-iPod video device in Japan in about 10 days. The portable media player has a cheaper look than the iPod, is a bit bigger and weighs more… but it supports many more video formats:
• MPEG1/2/4
• WM9 (Windows Media)
• Motion JPEG (pretty much useless)
• DivX 4/5
It remains to be seen if this apparent lush of video decode capabilities can turn into a competitive advantage. It’s not clear to me where the content will come from. Apple has a growing number of movies/shows to sell for a reasonable price. Creative Japan via akihabaranews (fr)
