IGN has an exclusive scoop on the upcoming next-gen console from Nintendo. The Revolution takes a totally different path in terms of performance, following its exciting new controller. The Revolution will use 4.7GB or 8.5GB (dual layer) discs as its media of choice, with no word on the amount of RAM or CPU speed. Nintendo plans to challenge Sony and Microsoft on gameplay and software levels and not on the hardware platform. It is speculated that the Revolution would carry a $149 retail price, which would explain why the specifications are kind of weak. Can pure gameplay beat eye-candy? Unfortunately, I don’t think so.
