Panasonic begins production of 50GB Blu-Ray discs

Panasonic have upgraded their existing pilot production line to accomodate the replication of dual-layer Blu-ray Discs that can store up to 50GB worth of data. Housed within the Panasonic Disc Manufacturing Corporation of America, this new spin coating technology developed by Panasonic reduces replication costs and yet increases capacity. Current single layer BD-ROM discs have more than 80% yield rates. Via Panasonic
