WiFi is usually good enough for web-browsing and low-intensity file transfers, but it sometimes not fast enough for intensive data transfers. Power line networking could be a solution: If you home is not Ethernet-wired, you could use your electric wires to transfer data at a much higher speed than what Wifi has to offer (for now).
