Rob Pait, a Director of the Consumer Electronics Marketing was proudly presenting the 8GB Microdrive from Seagate. The company had on display a selection of consumer electronics devices that feature their technology and the bottom-line is: microdrives are going everywhere and this is just the beginning. Seagate and a few other players are enjoying a position where their cost per GB of storage remains unchallenged by Flash Memory. We pointed out that we would love to get even smaller microdrives and Rob Pait reassured us by saying that his company was working really hard to make an even smaller package for their drives to integrate them into more devices (phones…). Great!
